Community Guidelines

Welcome to the CAN Connect community! These guidelines help ensure a safe, supportive, and respectful environment for all foster carers, kinship carers, and professionals.

1. Respect and Kindness

Treat all community members with respect and kindness. We are all here to support each other.

  • Be courteous and considerate in all interactions
  • Avoid personal attacks, insults, or demeaning language
  • Respect different opinions and experiences
  • Remember that everyone's fostering journey is unique

2. Confidentiality

Protecting privacy is essential in our community:

  • Never share personal details about children in your care
  • Do not share identifying information about birth families
  • Keep discussions about specific cases anonymous
  • Respect the privacy of other community members

3. Supportive Environment

We aim to create a space where everyone feels comfortable sharing:

  • Offer encouragement and constructive advice
  • Share experiences to help others learn
  • Be patient with those who are new to fostering
  • Celebrate successes and support during challenges

4. Professional Conduct

Maintain professional standards in your interactions:

  • Do not share misinformation or unverified claims
  • Avoid promoting personal businesses or services
  • Refer serious concerns to appropriate professionals
  • Report concerning content to moderators

5. Prohibited Content

CAN Connect has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. The following content is not permitted:

  • Harassment, bullying, or threatening behavior
  • Hate speech or discrimination of any kind
  • Sexually explicit, violent, or inappropriate content
  • Spam, scams, advertisements, or promotional content
  • Content that violates the law or regulations

6. Reporting and Moderation

If you encounter content that violates these guidelines, please report it using the in-app reporting feature. You can also block abusive users directly in the app. Blocking a user immediately removes that user's content and messages from your experience and notifies our moderation team.

Our moderation team reviews reports of objectionable content and abusive behavior within 24 hours and takes appropriate action, which may include warnings, content removal, account suspension, or permanent removal from the community.

7. Consequences

Violations of these guidelines may result in:

  • Warning or reminder about community standards
  • Temporary suspension of account features
  • Permanent removal from the community
  • Reporting to relevant authorities if required by law
